SUPERBIT D.V.D.s OPINIONS PLEASE ?

Feb 25, 2006 7:24AM PST

I just bought a superbit movie THE GUNS OF NAVRONE. Which is an old classic movie with anolog sound. The problem the film looked fadded. But it seemed to me that the picture was sharper and colors more natural than a standard d.v.d. Also i see only a handfull of movies available do any of you folks own a superbit d.v.d. ? Is it that much better? have a wonderful day stewart

I am debating buying the superbit spiderman, and underworld. The basics of superbit is their are no extras, thus freeing up room for pic quality based on compression, etc. the catch is I havent had the oppurtunity to actually see one

Check out Best Buy they had a table with all the superbit movies for $9.95 each I would love to see RETURN OF THE SITH in superbit and compare it to the standard d.v.d. I know superbgit has been around for some time but thay are expensive and very few titles. I ts hard to say but The picture looked about 25% better than a standard disk anyone else own a superbit movie please post a review nice weekend to all

i have yet to see a difference. personally, i think its a load of crap. on paper, it is suppose to have a better picture. but in reality, i see NO difference.

i actually notice the spiderman 2 superbits look a little more pixelated. i personally think its a fad and if the "super bit" logo wasnt on there, most poeple wouldnt see a difference.

Won't HD/Bue Ray make this obsolete?
Feb 26, 2006 12:06AM PST

Won't the new HD DVDs make this "superbit" idea obsolete, or will there be a new version of "superbit" based around the new HD/Blu Ray DVD technology? So basically, why waste money on "superbit" now if in 6 months we'll all have HD players?

well

1.) in 6 months, hd dvd or blueray players will come out. downside, it'll be over $1000 and not a lot of people will shell out that money for an uncertain technology.

2.) superbit are around the same price, if not less, then regular dvd movies so its not really shelling out more money.

3.) superbit has been around for quite a while, so its really not something brand new....it just hasnt been talked about much cause theres a little difference in the picture in my opnion.

4.) no matter what you look at, brand new or not, there will be something thats better. no one can ever keep up with technology or they'll go broke doing so....like stewart norrie. Happy

When I retired 5 years ago I saved enough money to go traveling, But then made the mistake of buying a hi-def t.v. now after $12000 and broke It was well worth it The trips would have ended and I would be back home watching my blurry anolog t.v. and board I can also blame you fine folk at cnet.com for making me spend all that money ha ha have a nice weekend all stewart

NO
Feb 27, 2006 3:42PM PST

The only way this will be obsolete is if you never use your regular dvd player again and i doubt that will happen. Look they are cheaper than normal dvds at 9.95 apiece so go get some.

Well I got some!!!!, Yes they are better!!!

How much better,, I wait untill I have more time to watch.
I bought,, Larwance of Aribia, Men In BlackII, The Mask of Zorro, The Dark Crystal( for my grand kids) and On The Beach.
But if they were not $9.99 I would not have bought them.
Back in the Laser Disk days there were a couple of companies that had special editions of some titles, Top quality product. The downside was that they cost twice as much as the standard laser disk. John
