Super Digibin format

May 3, 2005 11:18PM PDT

I have a Super Digibin, 40 gig... I tried to format the HD on it using my system- W2k Pro. I get an error message: "volume size to big"..That is a FAT32 issue correct? I am using NTFS on my system. Can I format the Digibin using NTFS? Or, is it another issue? Thanks.

(NT) Did you create the partition with Windows 2000?

No. Should I delete it on the Digibin and then try to format?

The partition if not created by 2000, may be invalid.

That's the short and long of it.

NTFS

Well, I created a NTFS partition and formated. NTFS is not seen by Digibin; I can access it through Disk Mnng. consol or, but not on the unit itself. How can I go back and set it to FAT 32. I tried FDISK, but, USB devices are not seen when booting with Win98 start disk. Ideas? Thanks.

In that case, here's what I do.

I attach it to my Windows 98se box and run FDISK in a Window to make the changes.

The maker of the device should also have an utility for reformatting if need be.

Win98 format

Thanks, so, WIN98 should be able to see it even though it is NTFS.... I am waiting to use my friend's system, since she has 98SE still.

Just FYI...

NTFS is not supported if you want to use the other features of this device. So I would delete the partition using the Windows 2000 box if need be before creating a new partition on the 98 box.

I looked and Digibin doesn't detail this for you or .. supply the utility to do all this.
