Super Basic Rugged Phone

by shahrokhan / April 9, 2011 2:38 PM PDT

So I am in university now and my BlackBerry Bold 9700 is becoming a major distraction for me, I keep looking at BlackBerry Messenger and whatnot.

A friend suggested I leave my BlackBerry in my dorm room in the morning and keep it as a 'play-phone' and just keep a super basic phone on me for emergencies and important calls.

His idea sounds good but all I know about phones is BlackBerry, iPhone and Android. I have tried searching for a suitable phone but the type of phone I want is either too old (unavailable now) or its only available in the US like the Casio G'zOne (I am in Canada).

So I was hoping someone could recommend a suitable phone to me over here. What I am looking for is a phone that has a very very basic feature set. Just phone calls is perfectly acceptable to me, anything extra is useless and if the features are too advanced that will be a negative point. I have heard there are such phones that are built very strong (water proof, shock proof, etc) and have insanely long battery lives. It would be good if the phone looked good like the Casio G'zOne.

Lastly I am in Canada on a GSM network. So please post your suggestions here. Thanks.

One more thing, I don't mind at all if the display is monochrome. Hope you get my drift.
