Sun Java JVM

by Alterknacker / September 15, 2006 12:12 AM PDT

When running the Sun Java Virtual Machine TEST, I receive the following:
1- you have the latest version 1.5.0_08
2- if you can see the dancing DUKE logo......then the JRE is functioning correctly.

Well, DUKE doesn't appear. How can this be corrected?

No answers fm Sun forums, Secunia, others.
My internet Options>advanced has Java(Sun) - use JRE 1.5.0_08 for <applet> checked and all Microsoft VM items unchecked. Coffee Cup logo ok, plugin control panel ok, Java cache cleared, et al.
Running Windows XP(sp2) IE6.

Thank you.

Testing Java

Duke doesn't dance for me either.
Sun's test pages I've used have not been reliable for a while. People going there with the _07 update are also being told they have the latest version.

Can you see the pink box with your _08 update here?

Thanks to all. (also mistakenly sent this msg in create instead of reply)

1- info in the pink box is ok;
2- the bodo.com/javame.htm site worked good; and
3- the images in forums.mozillazine appeared.

I should know by now that'DUKE' (wherever he is)would ALWAYS say that "you have the latest version", even if it was six years outdated!!!

Great to hear everything is o.k. :)

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
