SUHD TV 7000 series

Oct 3, 2018 8:45AM PDT

I have a Samsung SUHD 7000 series TV that we have had for 2 1/2 years. The upper LED panel is going out and the service provider said it would cost more to repair than replace the TV. I'm wondering if others have had similar problems with the same TV? Did Samsung do anything about it. All the supervisor kept saying to me is that the warranty only lasts a year. My feeling is that if they charge $ 2600 for a TV it should last for more than a year. Does the Consumer protection or Federal Trade Act help in this case? If there are several people with this same problem we should file a class action law suit.

Not just this model or make.

As service costs have increased there are many complaints as repairs can often exceed 50% of a new product.

We saw this in computers, now in phones and TVs.

As to last more than some period, the warranty is what that is about and if folk need more they should extend the warranty to cover they years it must work. You can see this in the auto industry with some parts of cars getting 8 year warranties.

Let me focus on the upper LED panel going out.

Check if your model uses LED STRIPS for backlighting. These are a common failure point in LED backlighting issues. http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2528498/samsung-led-backlight-problem.html for example.

There are many YouTube videos about this area and it is not something you would see in a class action since it applies to all TVs that use this design. If it was something design specific then it would only afflict this maker or model which it is not.
