I think I've answered my own question, after more research. You need the Sony Xperia tablet to control the Sony media player, which we don't have. If we want to use this, we'll have to get a tablet.
We're trying to get the Sony FMP media player to connect to our Samsung 4k SUHD 9500 65 inch TV. We get the splash screen when the media player boots up, which shows for several minutes, but then we get the "Can't connect to 4k Ultra HD media player, etc." message. It has given us various error codes along with this message, the latest being 3877, but I can't find anything on them when doing a search.
We've tried all the troubleshooting steps on the link below, but everything is set up as it requires. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can get this to work? Any help would be appreciated.
Sony removed the Sony TV-only restriction on the FMP media player to work with any 4k TV, but Samsung has no info on this, and Sony was no help either. Their one comment was that the media player might not work yet with the new Samsung model we have.
