Suggestions to buy a camera

Mar 17, 2006 5:17PM PST

I am an amateur photographer and am planning to buy a new digital camera.I have zeroed upon Canon Powershot A610 (http://reviews.cnet.com/Canon_PowerShot_A610/4505-6501_7-31475448.html?tag=pdtl-list) which suits my budget.

My basic requirements are
1. 5 to 8megapx res
2. Avg. to good optical zoom
3. Picture Clarity
4. Manual settings
5. Good macro mode
7. Movie recording with voice
8. Price range uptill 300$

Can somebody suggest any other options to suit the above?

I don't see any point in looking any further.

Few camera makers offer manual controls with a camera in that price range.
The A610 is getting good reports from owners.
It certainly gives you a lot of bang for the buck.

Very sharp photos.
Go for it.

Doubt if you will find anything else that compares.

the fuji 5200 can give you all that, but spend a
little more and buy the fuji 9000 and have much more
controls and 8 m. pixels,
i have them both.
