Question

Suggestions to any other than NEX-5 for film?

Apr 28, 2012 5:34AM PDT

HI everyone,

I am currently in a dilemma of which camera to buy.

My criteria is:
- Under $1000
- Very good in making Short Films
- Able to create Fashion Photography
- Compact (I travel alot)
- Interchangeable lenses

The only thing that is popping up right now is the NEX-5 and 60D (which is abit too expensive, but its so awesome D: )

Does anyone have any suggestions? or is the NEX-5 a good choice?

Answer
Panasonic GH2

Not quite as good at still photography, but better at video. The GH2 has a much better selection of lenses. The NEX-5 is a good camera, but it is let down by the quality and selection of lenses.

Not as nice?

Why do you believe the video is not as good on the Panasonic? The GH2 is roundly recommended by professional filmmakers because if its video quality and more importantly its control and customization. The Sony on the other hand lacks manual exposure control.
