the Dell Inspiron 9100 and am very pleased with it (except for that darn "i" key I broke when "trying" to swat a fly
). It has a 3.2 P4 with a gig of memory and a 100gb drive. Their newer model is supposed to run Media. Check it out.

I'd like to buy a new laptop and I could use some suggestions on what to buy. I'm looking for something to replace my current desktop (eMachines T2682 with an Intel Celeron 2.6 gig CPU, 2.59 gig 256 mg RAM). I intend to use it primarily for web surfing, word processing, editing photos, downloading, editing and burning to DVD home videos from my Sony Handycam, and playing a few games such as NASCAR and Medal of Honor Allied Assault (these games run very poorly on my current machine). I can spend about $1,500. What's a good, reliable choice? What software would I need?
I'm not exactly a newbie, but I'm numb enough that the less I have to tweak things the better.
