Nov 1, 2004 6:17AM PST

I'm looking to buy a decent digital camera at a fair price. Any suggestions? I've never owned a ditigal camera so I need something that is not complicated. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!! Thank You!!!!!

I checked out several cameras that looked like they fit your description.

I finally narrowed it down to the Nikon Coolpix 3200.

A quality camera for someone new to digital cameras.

A little shopping around and you can find the camera for $174 at one reliable mail-order firm.

I suggest you go to some place like Circuit City or WalMart where you can get your hands on the camera and try out the Nikon 3200.

I've heard the Nikon CoolPix 3200 is a great starter camera and perfect for beginners. It's not the cheapest so if you wanted something cheaper you could go for the 3100. Good luck!

Olympus cameras using AA batteries are simple
to use and have worked well for me. I recommend
4mega pixels or more at this time, though I have a 2 mega pixel i still use. Be sure to purchase double A's that say 'digital'.. 'charge in 2 to four hours' for the camera as soon as you get it. The batteries
are for sale in places like Staples or OfficeMax, again they must be 'digital' high drain NIMH's. Look
for the batteries to be rated 2000 or more milliamp.
The charger must be the 'digital' type not the old 12-16 hour kind. Previously they were only 1200 and took forever to charge.. the new AA's are excellent if you buy a camera that uses them you can have a spare set ready to go at any time with little fuss. The new batteries and chargers have dropped in price and recently i paid under $15 on sale for the batteries and charger where previously they wer $30-$40. A digital camera doesn't need to cost over $400
and there are nice one's for $200. I have not used
a tiny Sony yet but hear they are nice also.
