suggestions for smart bluetooth handsfree speakerphone?

Aug 27, 2008 3:57PM PDT

Anyone know of a bluetooth handsfree speakerphone for the car that knows when the car is turned on? It seems so simple to me that I only want it to pair when the car is running and I don't want to have to manually turn it off and on every time I get into the car.

The only ones I can find that might do this, like the Parrot, require a full take-apart-the dash install. It seems as though I should be able to find one that has two wires, one to the accessory line and one to ground, and thus not only does it know when the car is running but it can get power, magically, from the car instead of requiring me remember to recharge it...

Thank you for your suggestions,

DougM

This is too simple, the plus wire should be wired to ignition rather than permanent or acc. Then it wil only work on engine run etc. N.B. If your Parrot is on all the time, it's been incorrectly wired. They only time a Parrot or similar kit such as Bury will stay on is if you are using it (making a call) and you take out the ignition key.

I think we're talking about the same thing - in my car accessory will stay on after you shut off the engine but before you shut everything off and remove the key, so I can shut off the engine and still talk on the phone if necessary.

I don't have a Parrot, but of the ones I researched they all want to integrate into the car speakers, which is too much wiring for me - I just want to be able to tap into a spare ign/acc on the fuse box and have done with it.

I've not heard of a Bury, I'll go check that out.

Thanks,
