Suggestions for a good compact camera please.

Mar 21, 2010 5:44PM PDT

I want to get a good compact camera. It must have aperture and shutter speed priority, very little shutter lag and good focusing. I was going to get the Canon G11 but tried it and discovered that the shutter lag is terrible. If I can't find one I will have to go for a DSLR but I don't want to carry lots of kit around with me. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Canon G11

I read a review of the G11 and it mentioned the shutter lag.
When in automatic, the G11 tries to select the correct auto mode.
This takes a bit of time.
The review said that if you turn off that feature, the shutter lag is much shorter. I believe it was then 0.25 second.

Also check out the Canon S90.
Shutter lag of 0.20 second.
