unless Paint or other, why
I have "system restore" disabled as several virus attacks were multiplied when system restore stored them, where anti-virus can't touch,.. then timed to let out into the system again and again. Yes, I have had scanners check and delete this sysres viruses, but the best remedy I have found is to not use this "Wonder Tool" at all, or limit it severely..
Still, my Image Preview shows Print, but won't print. I have taken off the printer and put the latest driver version back on, but the print icon stays gray, even though if you put the curser on it it says "print". I have used the IE fixit tool, and nothing. It will print if I change it to Paint or other, but that stinks. When I right click on the pic to bring down the menu, the "Print" option is gone.
This all happened after I printed and/or captured Yu-gi-oh pictures for my son for the new movie off the web. I have scanned with every virus-adware-spyware I can. "BDE" has shown up several times lately and been killed, what is BDE?
It is not the cause of your virus/pest problem. But one can disable/enable it to purgre a pest in the SR storage.
The usual tools are Spybot, Adaware, Cwshredder and Housecall.
But what's likely is that your PC usage is part of the issue. You may be using Kazaa, or haven't learned that using Internet Explorer exclusively will eventually result in headaches.
Can you tell why you are having virus issues?
Bob
PS. You didn't tell exactly what tools you used. For instance, I use Hijackthis if the usual tools I noted above are not dealing with a new pest.
Yeah, Bob, i have used all those but didn't pay for "hijackthis" although the free scan found the same stuff every other spy-ad-mal did and removed, I even removed a registry bug that the admalspywares said they removed, but didn't (twice) ...I believe this "virus issue" is the result of 5 things, (1)I played the game Majestic,and(2)my company won't admit it,but short traders are hacking eveything to drive stock down---(when you get 200 to 2000 spam emails a day--call me and we can share our misery),(3)I have to use the dreaded IE half the time, but make sure it is "secure" before any thing else, and endless download patches, and (4)I have come to believe that eMachines with their rebuilt junk is junk.
I spend more time anti-this-and-that, and cleaning up. Or (5),I am under attack for no reason I know of.
Hijackthis is free. What site is charging? You should look again. Its a fine tool (free!) and you can post in the HJT forums for a looksee. Be sure to follow the directions or no one will look at it. Many complain about that, but I agree.
Did we cover unplugging the printer, remove the printer drivers and reinstall the printer? Such are not covered in detail here since the method has no standard.
In closing, I must comment that the user's computing habits are often the cause of these pests. Items like Kazaa and exclusive use of internet explorer are typical causes.
