It was an HP scanjet 6200 series flatbed that came with their network scanning package. It was set up as a shared device. These can be found refurbed and HP still has the software package available. I believe HP still makes a business class model but it's not at a friendly price. I believe there are software packages out there that will work with other scanners but have no personal experience with these. The 6200 was really nice but passed on about 2 years ago. I help support a small school with some volunteer computer/networking help and we put another 6200 in the computer lab there that's shared by 12 PCs. It still works fine and I am keeping my eye out for a replacement when it goes. As I said, you can find these refurbed. Check E-bay also. Good luck.
Yes, I am aware of HP's line of PSC network scanners and some of their Office and LaserJets that also have a network scanning capability, but is there something out there without all the extra's like printing and faxing, that just does scanning to multiple computers on a network? Thanks.
