Sometimes the firmware. But no model given so add the full model number with the last 4 or 5 letters so everyone can check it out for options.

There are cases where it's in an external source or app so if you use Netflix or such, be sure to reveal that as well.

PS. This is still true for external HDMI sources.

For example the closed caption for HDMI sources like a DVD player or cable TV is done at the HDMI source and not in the HDTV. This means we also have to know at times what the video source is.

Added PS. to note this issue.

Samsung UN50MU6300.
I've spent time with Amazon and with Samsung help numbers. Each says it's the other's problem. I suspect Samsung, because Netflix subtitles/captions are plenty big, but Amazon captions/subtitles are tiny on the same television. It is annoying, and the heavily-accented speech of the helpdesk persons adds to the frustration. Thank you for any help and all replies.

That's not the full model number.

So I can't check it out.

But you did note it was a problem in APPS! So Samsung didn't write the apps so they are not going to work this for us. You need to complain to the App's owner and maker.

In some countries they don't let the Smart TV maker off the hook. But in the USA, you won't get far with Samsung as they didn't write the code.

I use my Amazon Fire 4K player and it has subtitle size settings. I can't test for you where this is on a Samsung TV but Amazon support has usually been stellar. About Amazon support. Not one support person has had heavy accents. Are you sure you are calling Amazon and not some oddball pay for support number?

That's all of the model number that appears on the screen on the "about this television" page. Where else should I look?
And yes, it was definitely Amazon help. Not the first time I've gotten a non-native speaker. But in fairness, they probably have some thoughts about my Carolina accent.....(smiles).

The last four or fire letters.

Tell me exactly which model. But that doesn't mean I can look too deeply at the model.

It just improves my chances of supplying the exact page about your model and seeing if anyone else has documented how to adjust the subtitle in the Amazon app.

Maybe someday they'll get this act together and get a common Smart TV OS that pulls this together.

There were no letters at the end. Unless they are buried on some obscure page...

Since it's apps.

It really doesn't matter except if I broach the firmware subject. For firmware you call Samsung to walk you through how to do that work.

As it stands, you are seeing exactly what you see on computers. When you get your computer from Dell for example, you don't get far with Dell if the font isn't big enough in some app. Even if that app was installed by Dell.

So for each app you find yourself complaining to the app owner.

I have to write I'm very happy I don't use the smart parts of my TV. I use an Amazon Fire TV box instead. I also have a Roku.
