I just did that last week. But I ripped the DVD to an .ISO file which VLC Player and our trusty WDTV Live played with all features such as subtitles and more.
MP3 was generally accepted as the audio format/encoding so that should be a dead end.
AVI didn't really have subtitles from what I could tell unless you used something like HARDSUB. That's too technical to detail here so I'll pause here.
I ripped a foreign language video from a DVD in both AVI and MP3 formats. When I play the DVD the subtitles are displayed. When I play the ripped files on VLC (2.0.
, or on my Samsung smart TV the subtitles are not displayed although the video plays fine. I have previously done the same thing with other foreign language videos and the subtitles were displayed in both VLC and on my TV. Any suggestions?
