sub question

i have a kenwood vr3090 reciver
with a klipsch ksw10
it is hooked up using the line in jack
the other day the sub seemed to loose half its volume
all reciver settings are correct
so i ended up getting my old sony sub out
and it does the same low sub volume about half missing
i dont under stand being the reciver only sends signal not power very confused hope someone can help

I would check the settings again. There are usually features that can be turned on and off that can cut the signal. If this is still not the case, try a different wire to your sub to make sure it is not a short. If its not one of those two, it may be the connection on the receiver, or the receiver itself.

It is correct that the receiver does not power the sub fully, but it should be noted that power does run through sub cable; it's just a really small amount. If the subwoofer cable gets little to no power, it outputs little to no signal. Now why that could be happening in your case, could be a number of reasons.
