They are the camcorders in the price range you specified with the largest lenses and imaging chips. These are key to low-light good behavior.
I *think* the HDR-FX7 will be most flexible (it can do standard def 4:3 DV, Standard def widescreen DV and HDV while the GL2 is standard def only).
I know these are older models but these are the two I was looking at, both can be snagged right at that $2,000 mark which is really at the max of our budget.

HD isn't quite as important as a) staying at budget and b) performing well in indoor, auditorium environments with low to mid lighting. What do you think of those two and do you have any other suggestions. Thanks!
