Stupid question about "My Pictures"

by bozonoz / June 21, 2009 2:36 AM PDT

ok...this may sound dumb and unimportant to most, but it's a pain in the keyster to me so here goes.....
i'm an artist and i keep my photos i intend to paint in the "my pictures" section and i keep them organized in various folders.
when i want to see a photo i double click on it and it shows up....great up to there. when i hit the "done" button, it takes me back to the top of the folder rather than the picture i just looked at it. i will often have various views of the same subject and would like to be able to return to the original photo and just click to the photo next to it rather be returned to the very top and have to scroll down and often guess at the one i just looked at....and usually guess wrong only to end up back at the top again....it's maddening.
is there any suggestions on how to do this sanely? or am i missing something ? i tried "views", etc. nothing .
is there anyone can tell me an easy way to do this rather than what i am doing?
i do very much appreciate anyone's time and expertise in this.
bill

Viewing pictures: Irfanview
by terry1930 / June 21, 2009 5:51 AM PDT

Yes, definitely Irfanview is the program you need. Its free (donationware). I have had it for years and the latest version includes functions for music and video viewing as well.

For your photos this has a terrific feature on the top menu you can click on the left or right arrow to scroll forward and back through your photos, and you can delete ones you don't want to keep right there and keep on viewing the rest. It shows the filename of the pic on the top too. Also there is a box to the right that tells you how many pics are in that directory and the number of the current one you are viewing, e.g. 4/200 means you are viewing #4 of 200 pics. It reduces the total if you delete any. Also, you can do a slideshow.

Many other great features.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
