Question

Stuck on "Mode Not Supported"

Dec 3, 2012 11:27AM PST

I have a new 60" Samsung 550 3D TV, so I bought a BD-E5900 BlueRay 3D player to go with it, particularly because the sales staff I spoke with highly recommended Samsung to Samsung for best compatibility and need for only 1 remote, etc... Ok, sold.

The first 2 times we watched a 3D movie, it worked. Since then, we've never been able to get a 3D movie to play. Typically, the disc will start at the opening sequence, then it will get all the way past the "Play Movie" selection on the menu, right up to the moment the movie is supposed to start, then the 3D player switches to "Stop" and the TV displays:

"Mode Not Supported. Resolution not supported. Change the resolution of the external device."

-I've tried different settings and back to factory settings
-I've tried different HDMI inputs
-I've returned and exchanged the same model player
-I've downloaded all software updates for both the TV and the 3D player. All current.
-I've tested the player with a regular BlueRay disc, which worked fine

Particularly frustrating is how the 3D player seems to become un-responsive at this point. I would like to change the Resolution settings, but the "Home", "Hub", "Tools" keys of the remote do nothing. Any attempts to change the resolution with the TV itself produces no results. I read that the problem could be that it is set for 1080p when it should be set for 1080i, however, these particular settings do not appear in the Menu or Settings options for the TV.

So, nothing works.

Add a little more. What title?

I'm still reading about titles that don't play. Our nice Samung rep may be able to figure out the model numbers from your post but give them all the details you can such as the BD Title and one more thing. Did you get a shiny new HDMI 1.4a cable?
