Stuck In Sleep Mode

The other night I built a PC, after wiring everything up right, I hooked it up to my monitor and when I turned it on the computer was in sleep mode and the monitor said "Message: Sleep Mode"
If anyone knows whats wrong please do help.

By the way: I used an old Dell case and Dell monitor, I used the HDD that was already in the Dell Computer. The OS that was on the Dell was Windows 7.

All that means is no video signal.

As to the HDD, Windows doesn't move like that so remove the HDD and try again.

So do you think I need a new cord or monitor or something else?

Basically you have a non working PC.

The symptom does not tell us what it is. Google this "THE DEAD PC" in which folk go over the usual ideas.

Since it's new, you can try making it a warranty issue. Call the maker or seller and ask what they want to do next.
