stuck at windows 7 logo at start up

I install Windows 7 with my usb flash drive and when windows 7 trys to log in for the first time it gets stuck at the starting windows logo. I am unable to get into safe mode to become windows 7 has not finsh installing. I am able to install window vista on the computer so I am unsure what can cause this problem

At the office we have this old Vista laptop and it will do exactly what you noted when 7 is installed. It makes a fine time sink for experts that think they can install 7. That one won't and that's that.

So what is this computer?

I would suspect your installation media. Do you have a DVD disc instead to install from? Was Vista installed on THIS particular drive, or on another one? Is this a new drive and if so, did you initialize and format it?
