Which is why I use Live Antivirus CDs for such infections. Here's a list.

Hi Everyone,
THe WinXP PC has caught some stubborn virus or malware stuff that's really got me.
As soon as I connect any USB Drive or Flash it immediately converts every file and directory in there to a Shortcut!!
Looks like it's also prevents AVG Anti-Virus from updating and doesn't allow me to install Malware removal apps. Even tried updating AVG virus signatures from a CD with the latest signature file but looks like it's not allowing it - just get a message from AVG saying the update failed.
Even tried starting up from Safe-Mode and uninstalled then re-installed AVG and ran a command line scan. Finds many files infected by some trojan-horse but again AVG crashes.
Really need some tricks on how to be able to "trick that virus out"
Would really appreciate some help on this, pls.
