Question

Struggling to find new laptop that betters my sony vaio

Jun 8, 2016 12:54AM PDT

Hi all,

so i had a custom Sony Vaio built in the UK in 2013 (don't have in South Africa) with following specs:
- SVP 1321C5E Ultrabook
- No-touch
- 2 x USB 3.0
- 8 GB 1600 MT/s DDR3L - SDRAM
- Intel i7 - 4500 1.8GHZ
- 33.7cm LED 1920 x 1080
- 18hr batt life (haha yeah sure...)
- 512GB SSD
- Graphics Intel HD 4400

I absolutely love this laptop especially for it's super lightness - but it's becoming redundant thanks to Sony Vaio not making laptops anymore thus struggling with software upgrades (overheating laptop/touchpad issues etc).

I've been comparing with Apple and windows laptops. So far spec wise there are Apple laptops that better these specs especially with RAM but they are all heavier than my current one. The 13" lists Intel i5 - is that a downgrade in processor speed? I've seen the HP Spectre x360 here in South Africa and it looks like a better option but I don't need a Touchscreen or flipscreen option.

I use my laptop a lot for photography, graphics and videos so need it to be fast, usb compatible and mobile.

Please help with suggestions as if I can I would choose to avoid Apple with the OS operating system - I'm a bit old school with Windows.

Thank you

That was a great model then so updates have been incremental. In other words you won't see much change from then to now in Sony's newest.
