strong wireless signal no connection

May 19, 2005 8:19PM PDT

I would like to know why I can get a strong connection signal on my Sony Vaio GRS 150 laptop/Windows XP Home, with built in wireless (turned on)using Linksys Wireless B connected to DSL but I can't get my browser to connect to the internet using IE-6 or Netscape. I suspect it has something to do with WEB or my password, don't for sure. Any suggestions? If not, how can I totally uninstall the Linksys software and start over?

What I do...

Is to start out with all the WEP,WPA, MAC filtering off in the router. That usually works. Even if not I then see if the router has a FIRMWARE UPDATE and do that.

I suspect you hav not set the security settings on the router and computer to be the same.

Sometimes in Windows you have to adjust your internet settings to access using the wireless connection.

I agree with turning off all security, and seeing if things work from there.
