Streaming Directv alternatives

Hello - Recently i signed up for AT&T Internet service. The person who helped me tried to get me to sign up for local channels with "Directv" internet, (without the dish antenna) for $40 a month.

I am thinking there is probably a much cheaper option, maybe something where i can just buy the individual channels i want?

Suggestions?
