Question

Streaming Devices

Sep 12, 2015 10:16AM PDT

I am looking to add a wireless streaming device to my home theater set up. My set up Audio is delivered using an older Harmon Kardon receiver which does not have hdmi inputs…….I there anything out there which is a good, solid streaming device having optical coax digital audio outputs (the streaming device) so I can connect it to my older AVR? I use a Roku 3 elsewhere and an Apple TV, but these do not have the audio output I need for my older (but exceptional) home theater receiver….I have also looked into something which might split outgoing hdmi signal from a streamer and convert it to older digital 5.1 on Coax or Toslink but these, I have found, to be quite expensive and not always effective……Would love to find a way to adapt a Roku 2 or 3 but see no way possible….Any ideas?

So why not the old fashioned setup?

That is, Roku 3 over HDMI to the HDTV and then use the optical out from the HDTV to the HK?

I cannot record Netflix. It might be the same for all paid streaming contents also. Just so that you are aware.
