Just like years ago, this costs to do. Even at 500 bucks I think you came up a bit short. Why not try again and re-research UStream. I've seen folk do standard def work for far less for cheap.

So I'm planning a "performance art" kind of project where i'll be walking from L.A. to an art gallery in Oklahoma. I'd like to be able to take video and live stream it to the art gallery to be projected. This means I will be in somewhat remote areas and am looking for a way to stream the video. Maybe across 3G / 4G network although 4G may be really spotty. I'll be bringing a battery pack with me to keep whatever device(s) I end up with charge up. But really what i'm having trouble with whether or not it would be possible to stream the video.
Does anyone have any idea how this would be possible? Here are the different scenarios I've looked into.
1 & 2 I've thought about but not possible
1. Google glass (too long of a waiting period / expensive)
2. UStream LiveU Backpack (really expensive from my understanding)
3. GoPro - i don't think there's a good way to stream this remotely is there? The video sizes are kind of large and the batteries go pretty quickly.
4. Cellphone - I think this is probably the way to go except that i've tried my current setup through a UStream channel over a 4G network and it barely works. The video plays for a second and then freezes. Also I'm thinking constantly streaming 8 hours a day for about a month will get super expensive. My current setup is a Moto X through Repbulic Wireless's 4G plan feeding to a UStream channel.
5. Portable WiFi device or 4G modem? Maybe this would work? not too familiar with these.
If anyone has any advice that would be great. Looking to spend around $500 at the most (not including the camera).
It seems like there should be a way to do this but maybe technology is not quite there yet. I bet in a year this will be no prob assuming the zombies don't attack.
