Question

streaming

Jul 25, 2014 2:39AM PDT

Hi guys--
I have Netflix and enjoy streaming movies to TV via my WIFI
router. I recently viewed an interesting video online (not Netflix) and wondered if there was any way I could stream it to television? Answers much appreciated.
Thanks.

You didn't reveal if you saw such on your PC but to get some to the TV (such as Hulu.com) you need a PC. And yes, that discussion has been done as to why and more.

Streaming PC to TV
Jul 26, 2014 7:36AM PDT

I watched an old History Channel documentary on my PC upstairs. I have a Netgear router attached to my modem attached to my PC. I have a Netgear box attached to my my TV downstairs. This enables streaming Netflix--though I see a host of other things like Hulu on my TV screen, which I've never explored. I suppose they all cost bucks.

All you need: a hdmi-cable between the hdmi (out) on your laptop and the hdmi (in) on your TV to use the TV as a monitor. And the right setting on your laptop to output both image and sound across that cable to your TV, but that's in the user manual (of the laptop).

I have a desktop PC, not a laptop. PC upstairs, TV downstairs.

There can be "too many variables" at work here. What may work for one setup won't cross-over or be 100% for something else. Even, if you had the $, you yet throw another wrench into the works. Consider what you just stated, Netflix, PC, TV and wifi mix, now you want basically "direct streaming", correct. Look into Chrome comcast gadget at least its $35. Otherwise, you'll be fiddling with this or that to get the right combo. You may already have what you need but again, what works for one setup(TV,wifi, etc.) won't for a different TV, PC, etc., because it such a PITA to get one thing to work, as I stated too many variables. Even if you do get it to work, when it doesn't work later, you may just forget how you did it the 1st time. AND NO! I really can't put my finger a real fix for your problem, until I look and touch the setup. Review the manuals or your "media provider" and see if they offer guides on setups, like ComCast,DirectTV or TWC websites.
