strange vista issues

Apr 26, 2009 6:56AM PDT

I just purchased a dell studio laptop with a Vista Home Premium OS 2 weeks ago. I'm having this really weird issue where whenever I try and write an e-mail or even as I've typed this message,an IM box,an open file box, bookmark page box,,or the zoom in/out option will just randomly appear. I've also had a problem where sometimes the letters will become italic. I know I'm not pressing other keys accidentally, etc. Has anyone had this problem and is there a solution? Thanks in advance for any help!

Tried reinstalling the keyboard drivers?

A driver glitch can cause such problems, virtually 'pressing' a key, such as Windows, Ctrl, et cetera, so keys you actually do press have different meaning. The other possibility is a malware infection, which should be picked up by a full system scan using your antivirus software, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, et cetera.

Thanks! I'll have to run my malwarebytes software and see if it picks up anything and I'll run some diagnognostics too.

It could also be that you are accidentally zooming in and out with your touchpad. Go to Control Panel< Mouse< Dell Touchpad settings and try disabling the zoom feature. I'm not sure about the italics though...

I ran malwarebytes and mcafee and both were clean. I'll try changing the zoom settings and see if that helps. Thanks! It's really annoying to say the least.

Have you had any luck after changing the zoom settings?
