Question

Strange Source Switching Problem

Sep 3, 2016 10:04PM PDT

My Samsung LED Model 6300 just started having a strange issue. It is hooked up to the cable box with component cables. For as long as we have had cable, the TV source has been set to Component and everything worked fine. Then, one day last week, no signal through Component. When I switched the source to HDMI, it worked again. Then, just as suddenly as it happened, a few days later, no signal through HDMI -- and it was now back when I switch the source to Component. Just now, it has done it again -- back to HDMI. There is nothing hooked in to HDMI -- as I said, the connection is through component cables. Any ideas?

Answer
When I have HDMI issues like that I....

I unplug the HDMI cable (just one end) and then power off then unplug the set for about 10 minutes. I apply power, plug in the HDMI and re-test.

If that fails, the maker is called. Be sure to have them check firmware.

Nothing Plugged Into HDMI

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I want to clarify that there is nothing plugged into the TVs HDMI input. Therefore, I cannot attempt your solution.

Then it's up to the maker to resolve.

My bet is they'll check firmware versions, factory reset and maybe tell you it's doing as expected. I don't know why but some models are programmed to switch inputs.

same problem new tv x2
Dec 10, 2016 6:49PM PST

I have had this problem with UHD TV 630d series. It all of a sudden while watching HDMI 1 it will switch to HDMI 2 it doesn't matter if anything is plugged into HDIM2 or not.
First TV 2 months old took it back to Costco. (great return policy)
second tv same model happened after it was on for about 30 min.

I switched my cable to HDMI2 and it stayed there and didn't try to switch to a different input source.

I hate to bring another on back to Costco, but I think I'm done with Samsung.
