It had similar issues but what cured it was.
1. The BIOS was made current.
2. I wiped the drive and clean installed Windows 10
All good now.
I have an old dell inspiron 1545 from around 2010. It has always had a problem which was apparent from when I first bought it. I had been on and off contact with Dell and we never found a fix for the problem. It never got fixed under the warranty because this problem is intermittent and never showed when I actually took it to get fixed, then the warranty expired (just my luck)
So it seems to right click when left clicking, double click when left clicking and also right/double clicking when not even clicking left. Like it will just do a chain of clicking. When it's doing it, the laptop is virtually unusable.
It is a problem apparent on the track pad, AND with the USB mouse. I have used several USB mice and it's never gone away, like I said it's intermittent like it will go through a patch of it and be nearly unusable (for weeks!) then work one day for perhaps weeks. Then it goes like it again literally unusable.
My electronics knowledge is probably more than your average person but this has me stumped!
It's an alright laptop and I want to use it as a media hub but it's actually unusable in this state and always has been. I don't know if this is software/hardware or just faulty goods.
So I have tried:
-taking it to an expert (they couldn't find a fault)
-talking to dell (said it was not faulty and to turn off the track pad in system settings)
-USB mouse
-turning off the track pad in some system setting (inspiron 1545 seem to has a jive track pad program which I thought was the issue but it still does it DESPITE removing this thing)
-defrag
-flash and reinstall
-disassembled it then put it back together
Despite all of this it still works yet does this problem. It has literally been rotting in my cupboard for years and I want to try and fix it before I salvage the hardware haha.
