.When I read your post I didn't see if you checked with Dell for all the drivers as well as the BIOS updates. There's not much magic here. If the BIOS is out of date you see odd things like this. Same for the drivers. But which drivers are suspect after the BIOS is current? The motherboard chipset driver.
And remember the BIOS and motherboard chipset have to be in sync or you get odd things like this.
This is one of the more strange problems I've come across. Whenever a program - whether it be Skype, Logitech's webcam software, Rocketfish's webcam software, or even Flash in any browser - accesses the webcam the application crashes. I thought that the problem had to do with my Logitech Orbit AF camera, but it turned out that buying a new Rocketfish webcam caused the same identical problem. Both cameras work perfectly fine on any other computer.
This problem started about two weeks ago, and uninstalling and re-installing software, drivers and doing some of everything hasn't worked at all. If anyone could shed some light on this it would be great.
The computer is a Dell Inspiron 530 running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit upgraded from Vista (It's been running 7 since it came out in Oct 2009). 4 gigs of RAM. And any other info you need just ask.
