Possibly...
Oct 12, 2005 1:36AM PDT

I noticed that sometime yesterday Cnet switched over to a new, more graphically-appealing login page. Perhaps a result of the change is that a different cookie is needed to have your username and password saved for auto-login? Just a guess.

Same problem with me logging-in. Sorry I started a new post on this subject. The problem does not seem to be with a new interface or design.
John, this has been a problem for a very long time.

I had to
Oct 12, 2005 9:13AM PDT

I had to look for the login area.

Almost sprained my wrist moving the mouse like John Robie did.

It was a little strange when it came up and I didn't see the normal screen.

A total PITA
Oct 13, 2005 11:02PM PDT

I've cleared out all of my cookies and my TIF files, and still every time I have closed my IE session and come back, I've had to log in again.

The only thing I can think of is that my "favorites" where I've saved each of the forums that I go to regularly in my LINKS toolbar has each of those bookmarks locked into the old cookie, so now I have to delete each one and save them all again.

This is totally unacceptable that this happens with NO warning when they update their site. Do TPTB NOT know this will occur when they make their changes, and if they DO know, don't you think a heads up would be nice?

Nope, deleting the shortcut links didn't
Oct 13, 2005 11:32PM PDT

solve the problem either. I can travel the forums all I want as long as I never close the IE window for any reason and then reopen it to come back in. I can't get CNET to 'remember me' and have to log back in every time.

I've written to Marc Bennett to see if he knows what's happened.

Something got fixed since yesterday
Oct 14, 2005 9:21PM PDT

When I turned on the computer this morning, I had to log into the first forum I clicked on from my LINKS toolbar and the rest of the links kept me logged in (I was having to log in at every single forum yesterday). Whether the 'remember me' will hold when I shut down the IE window and start again will be something I'll find out in a little while and will report if that's been fixed, too.

PITA it is... This will be fixed tomorrow 10/18/05
Oct 17, 2005 5:01AM PDT

Hey everyone,

I apologize for the inconvenience. I found out today that the "Remember me" check box is not functioning correctly and some code was left out. It will be fixed hopefully by tomorrow evening.

Again I apologize for the issue.
