Strange ghosting, almost like convergence, on samsung lcd

by mbender0602 / January 28, 2010 3:47 PM PST

My TV is model lnt4661fx, 46" 1080p lcd. It is a little over a year old. In the past week, when I turn the tv on for the first time, on the right side of the screen there is an issue. 3 horizontal lines divide the screen equally, but they only go about half way. Then the image on the right side is doubled, like when an old projector tv was out of convergence. The image also hangs around like burn in for just a second after the image changes, so its always displaying the last image over top of the current image.

This only happens when the tv is first turned on for the day, and usually clears up after about 5 minutes or so. After 5 min, it displays perfectly and will continue to do so for the rest of the evening, even if it is turned off and back on. Of course the TV is now out of warranty. I am hoping it is something simple, or at least inexpensive to fix.

I have the same problem

I have a 40 inch Samsung LCD TV. Model 40A550P3FXZA. Overnight it usually turns on okay. However if turned off and then back on the screen is divided in half horizontally and then in 3 equal vertical areas. The middle is a mirror image of that part of the screen. The left is right side up and the left is upside down. This takes about 30 minutes to clear up. If turned off then back on it occurs again. TV is about 1.5 years old. Any advise would be appreciated.

If the television is just a little over a year old, try registering the television on the product registration site. In most cases, this will extend your warranty an additional three months on top of the original warranty that it carried.

You can do that at this site:
(By the green star in the middle of the screen)

If you're just outside of THAT warranty, Try calling the Samsung customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG and see if they can assist. If they can't, ask for a transaction number for the call and post that here. I'll be happy to look into this and see if there is a way that I can have one of the service managers review your case for further consideration.

That applies to all posters here, so feel free to post those numbers.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
