Strange FF Happenings

This is my third message; the first two didn't make it through FF, so am using Win Exp. Yikes!

Win XP Home edition; 512 RAM, 60 GB hard drive, 160 GB external hard drive, AMP processor.

Problem: yesterday, FF kept closing due to FF.exe errors. My husband's computer didn't do that. I kept losing information. Do I need to reinstall FF?

Second problem: my computer refuses to go to sleep. Although I have a button on my keyboard to send it to sleep, it hasn't worked the last couple of days. So I go through "start" then choose the "hibernate" option. At that point, the screen goes blank (Yeah!) BUT then comes back up after 10 seconds or so.

All my virus, etc. protection is up-to-date.

If you open up Task Manager, (CTRL + ALT + Del), then click the Processes tab, if ff.exe is listed this is likely to be a virus/worm.

Firefox would be listed in the Task Manager as Firefox.exe.

Perhaps a trip over to the Virus and Security alerts forum here;
would help.

It may be messing up your hibernate as well.
