For some Android phones we have "PLAN B". There are articles about phones lost on purpose. You can read that and see what happened.

Hi there,
I've never had a phone or anything stolen until now. My phone was stolen at a bar last week by unknown thief and I never put a pass code on it (my biggest regret to this day). The thief could see everything on my phone. I have trouble sleeping because of what they might have done or might do with my phone contents. It's been over a week and I haven't seen any of my mobile's contents on the internet and I haven't received any strange messages in my email account or current phone (my number is the same). But it's hard to relax about this.
Now, when thieves steal phones, do they care about the contents really or do they just wipe the phone clean and sell it?
Is there anything I can do to find the thief at this point? I've already search kijiji, craigslist, ebay and some other sites in vain to see if my phone shows up. Well I probably can't know if it's really mine but I just don't know what else to do. I've been told by my carrier that it's pretty hopeless and especially without a suspect, the police can't do anything. I'm trying to let the whole thing go but can't put my mind to rest. It's been horrible and I feel quite violated.
