I might consider a hybrid when I'm convinced of their reliability and cost effectiveness. I just don't believe they have a proven track record. I'm afraid of buying what will become in 3 or 4 years unstable and obsolete technology that ends up costing way more than the average car to repair and insure. They're not beyond the novelty stage yet. I bought a Betamax once, and 8-track tapes. I'm not going to pay what they want for a hybrid car only to have the technology fizzle in favor of some other hybrid version. I'll wait till hybrid cars are more mature.
