I have software that is still showing up in my Add/Remove list after the program is gone? How can I get rid of them?

What program? What all have you done to remove it. Does the program have an uninstall option. Have you checked to see if it is also in Startup programs (Start -> Run -> Type in MSCONFIG -> OK -> click on the Startup tab)?

Removing Items from the Add/Remove list

Open regedit and go to HKEY Local Machine>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current version>Uninstall>. Remove any entry you do not want. Make a backup of the Registry first. This way, if you mess up it?s a simple matter of reverting back. To back-up, access the registry editor\File\Export\name the file and choose a location.

MS's own clean up tool

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility can be downloaded from the above link and it will remove installed programs that can't be uninstalled from the Add-Remove Programs List because you don't have the cd anymore or because the program itself can't locate its uninstall file info.

There is one version of this utility available for individual windows versions from W95, W98, ME, NT 4.0, 2K, XP, and Server 2003. Direct download can be reached at this link:

I downloaded Add/Remove Pro and it works perfectly. I'm not smart enough to go messing with my registry so it was a big help. Thanks for all of the suggestions!

Reinstall / Uninstall again!

When I had this "same" problem in the past, I just reinstalled the program and then uninstalled it again and the program was then removed from my add/remove control panel listing. Worked for me. Only a suggestion.
