The HP Recovery System, depending which option you choose, is designed to leave your documents and such in tact, but disregards your programs, meaning most will be removed or left inoperable. (That's why I don't like OEM recovery systems...the original Windows CD gives you a repair option that leaves everything in tact, including programs.) Just download and reinstall whatever programs you want, such as Windows Defender and Javacool's SpywareBlaster. You can clean out the shortcuts if you want, but they should be 'reactivated' once the programs are reinstalled.
Hope this helps,
it is not in my programs and when I click to update says file missing..how do I reinstall? There does not seem to be a program to uninstall...weird..also my icon for Windows Defender is here but when I click it it gives error..no program..looked in add/remove and neither seems to be there. HP had me do a recovery restore...I lost some things but not others..Should I just delete the icons and download again??
