Stetson, the Highway Husky

by Angeline Booher / March 27, 2007 7:46 AM PDT
Stetson, a Siberian husky who went missing from his home in Texas, has amazingly been found in Tullahoma, more than 900 miles away.

News 2 will leave on Monday and drive Stetson home to Lubbock and reunite him with his owner.

I raised 2 huskies, and, believe me, those animals can cover a LOT of territory in nothing flat. They are not territorial - the world is their territory. They can jump a 4 foot fence, but not 4 1/2 feet. So we had a 5 foot fence installed, just for good measure.

They are a very high-energy working class breed, and unless kept busy and occupied, will find something to do on their own. I have cookbooks in a bookcase that lost all of their spines, and some covers. Also a gaping hole dug into a mattress. That's when the vet said to get another husky so the first one would have companionship and a constant playmate. Happy

Most are very friendly and sweet, but beware of any that have been hit by a human.

It looks like Stetson had a lot of friendly folk along the way. Happy
