Vista Home Premium SP2 [OEM] Laptop
When trying to boot up, I got an error- Windows failed to start because of a recent hardware or software....
It gave me a choice to let the system repair itself, or start normally ... I chosed the former, and the system repaired itself and windows started normally.
However, at the next boot, I got the error screen again... I was able to get into safe mode, but with command prompt only....to run chddsk which reported problems, and I have to use the /f switch to repair them, but when I do that....when the system rebooted to run it, I got the srror again.... The repairs done by "Startup Repair" did not stick... At this time, I do not want to use the recovery disks, although I have my backups. My question- what can I do in "Safe mode with command prompt" ? Anyother suggestions ? Thanks.
christy.
