I have a dell dimension 4550 os xp home edition 2002 pentium 4 2.66ghz 512 RAM

when the startup screen appears it also opens a folder called INTERNET.

the folder contains
1. a folder called ICC
2. a folder called tiscali browser
3. a folder called reconfig
4. SetupCTL.ocx
5. SetupWD

I have no idea what these files and folders relate to but the main thing is how do i stop it from opening each time.

Re:Startup opens a folder on startup screen how do i stop this (with STARTER)

I'll suggest STARTER which I note in a posting about parasites.

Parasite removal programs.

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=1313&start=0 notes the five scanning tools and removal tools that are fairly safe. If one does encounter an issue, its always been damage done by the MALWARE. The most common issue being Layered Service Provider replacement which you can use LSPFIX (Hint: use http://www.google.com to find).

The thread has follow on discussions about new links if you don't want to use Google to find an item.

Bob

PS. All the tools are free.

Then it will take your efforts.

There is no "do this" for your issue. STARTER is one of the tools that gives you insight into what starts. You get to examine each item and research if it's the one you need to disable.
