Startup concern

Jun 6, 2005 5:20AM PDT

I am running Windows XP SP2 with Zone Alarm firewall and AVG antivirus. I scan with Adaware and Spybot regularly. I have noticed that on Bootup, Zone Alarm alerts me that "svchost.exe is attempting to contact the internet". Zone Alarm indicates that the desination IP address is "239.255.255.250:1900". I have checked for running programs and found none in task manager. The only programs called to startup are AVG, TweakUI, and the Zone Alarm Client. All these programs are in manual update mode and not automatic. I am unable to determine why or what program is behind this attempt to contact this particular IP address.
How can I determine what actual program or dll is causing this action?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Bob:

Thanks for the push in the right direction. I followed up on your Google search and have pretty much concluded that this is a normal response from the Microsoft Universal Plug and Play.
Some of the responses found did suggest the possibility of a trojan but the Microsoft Site references it and even suggests a method of turning off Universal Plug and Play.
I'll just allow it and ignore for now unless you perceive a threat.

Thanks again,

Jim
