startup

Mar 22, 2004 2:41AM PST

When starting my computer it usually flashes Windows then begins to load. Recently when I start up the "MS WINDOWS Startup menu" appears with 4 options.
1. normal
2.boot...
3. safe mode
4. step by step config.

I then have to hit normal to boot. Is there a way to bypass this menu?

1. In Windows Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Folder options.

2. Under the "View" tab, select the option to view all files.

3. Then go to your root (C: ) directory and locate the MSDOS.SYS file.

4. Right-click it and select "Properties."

5. Remove the check mark from "Read Only."

6. Then right-click the file and select "Open With..." (if you don't see that option, try holding down the SHIFT key before right-clicking the file). Choose Notepad as the program to open it with.

7. Locate a line that reads "Bootmenu = 1." Change the 1 to a 0, save and close the file, and restart your computer.

for w98, go to START, RUN, type "msconfig", choose the ADVANCED bar at bottom right, see entry "enable startup menu" and uncheck it.
