The reason Microsoft didn't put msconfig into 2000 was simple. It was a "Professional OS" and in those days it was expected that owners would learn the OS.
For those that don't want to "go native", here's a startup item tool for the rest of us -> http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

I have a handicapped friend who has asked me for help. She has Windows 200 Professional. When she boots up she gets an error message that Windows can't find some sort of thing. I thought that if I could find that it is in Startup then I could get rid of it. I have used Run/msconfig with Win 98 and now Win XP which I have but when I tried that on her computer I was told that msconfig could not be found. Is there another way to get into startup?
