ahw30045, To completely rid your computer of that trojan you must disable System Restore then restart your computer and run another virus scan which should come up clean. If it comes up clean then enable System Restore again. Disabling System Restore and restarting your computer purges all the System Restore files including any virus/trojan infected files. I'm assuming your using Windows ME or XP so I'll post links with instructions for both operating systems.
Disabling or enabling Windows Me System Restore
Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore
My antivirus program (AVG Professional 6.0) keeps notifying me of Startpage.6.BF trojan horse virus detected in the System Restore Information directory, with a file A00****.exe (*** is the rest of the file which I can't remember). I am instructed to run AVG for Windows (which has the latest virus definitions) and it finds nothing. Later, I get the warning again, and again and again (no matter how many times I run the program). I have tried to look at the files in the System Restore Information directory, but am denied access.
