Starting XP in safe mode??

May 29, 2005 3:18AM PDT

Hi all,

I cannot for the life of me get XP to start in safe mode. Using F8, I only get an option to choose which device to boot first. When I choose my HDD, it boots normally. An option to hit Escape and boot defaults does the same thing. Why can't I get into safe mode? My keyboard is a Microsoft keyboard that has an "F Lock" button to access the "F" keys. Perhaps some of you know the model I'm talking about. I have tried with the "F Lock" button active and also inactive. Same result. Any ideas why I can't use safe mode? I did go into MSCONFIG and do a diagnostic startup, but that do much. Thanks for any help!
Dave

HOw to start in safe mode in Win Xp

To start in safe mode in Win Xp
when rebooting or starting hit the DEL Or Delete Button
that will take you to Bios then you can choose.
Safe Mode will sometime not help you to fix certain problems, it's better to go straight to the root then the branch to fix a problem.

Thanks all for for help. I had a file on my desktop that I couldn't delete at all and could not determine what program was using it. Anyway, after some searching, I found sweet little tool called Killbox that removed it on next reboot. Here is the link if anyone needs it:

Worked like a charm!!

Thanks again
