Older hardware with aging CD/DVD drives or failed RAM. You need to make sure the hardware is XP compatible as well as unplug things, cards not needed during install (USB drives, etc.)
I'm trying to install Windows XP on a PC that is running Windows 2000 Server. When I start the PC the Starting Windows... comes up and "status bar" gets about 5% done then stops, I get the miss or corrupt message but it freezes up on me. I've tried starting it with the Windows XP and Windows Server CD with no luck.
I've tried tapping the hell out of F8 when I restart it, but still no luck. Any suggestions?
