I am very new to this whole thing, but willing to learn. Currently I do not have any equipment except for our PC. I am doing research locally and would like to interview people and burn the interviews on a dvd...so most of my filming would be in doors, in someone's house. I would also like to film once a year our music fest which is held inside of a barn where the lighting can be a little low...so I'm thinking get a light as an accessory. Finally, I would like to also transfer our existing vhs videos (from past year music fests) onto dvds...plus be able to do that for other people...(transfer videos to Dvds/ in order to make a little part time $)...So from talking w/ someone in a store yesterday, here's what types of equipment I was told I want:
1. a hard drive camcorder (easier to download on computer since I want things as simple as possible, maybe a camcorder "package" w/ tripod and light accesory?
2. something called a "studio movie box" to convert existing vhs into something I can down load on computer and then burn
3. a multiple dvd burner (let's say I want to burn multiple copies of the same thing and save time)
4. editing softwear on computer?...again @ this point, SIMPLE is a priority...always time later to get more bells and whistles.
I have a budget of $1200-2000 max to purchase everything...based upon what I'd like to do, any suggestions will be VERY appreciated! DM
